TECHTIP FOR FPGA DESIGN WHERE PROPER MANAGEMENT OF ASYNCHRONOUS SIGNALS IS ESSENTIAL FOR ROBUST AND RELIABLE DESIGNS

Many of the FPGA/VHDL design projects that come into AVID from our customers are efforts to convert an ASIC to FPGA, or fix or improve a prior “troubled” project. Too often we see “asynchronous” verses “synchronous” design techniques that can lead to functionality or reliability problems. Here is a basic but all-important TechTip for synchronous design.

HOW TO MEET A DEMANDING SCHEDULE FOR AN ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
MULTI-BOARD AEROSPACE PROJECT

AVID Technologies was recently contracted to perform the concurrent design of a complex multi-board project for a large international aerospace corporation. AVID was chosen for its depth of experience, large staff for throughput and proven track record on complex designs requiring 1st pass success.

AVID'S EXPERTISE IN BATTERY-POWERED DESIGNS

Battery safety is the primary concern in the design of any battery powered device. Li-Ion batteries are desirable to make a product smaller and lightweight, but they require careful monitoring and protection schemes. We have developed cell protection circuitry and firmware algorithms to meet manufacturers' requirements for operating temperature, voltage and current for Li-Ion cells and other battery chemistries.
