HISTORY

Since its inception in 1985, AVID has built a reputation for excellence and exceeding customer expectations, evidenced by our significant repeat customers, financial stability, and consistent growth.

Privately owned, AVID was initially founded as AVID CAD Corporation - a PCB layout service company offering the industry's first "100% correct and on-time guarantee" and ultra-fast-turn-around "WIN (Want it Now) Service" for engineered advanced technology PCB designs. This forged the company culture and work-ethic of urgency, quality, and responsiveness that continues to this day.

In 1995, the name was changed to AVID Technologies, Inc. to reflect the broader markets, technologies and growing amount of comprehensive product engineering services provided.

In 2000, AVID’s 15th anniversary, AVID constructed, owned and occupied a new 8,000 square foot facility with stunning interior design and an open collaborative work environment. This was a celebration of more than five years of compounded 30% per year growth, and multiple awards and recognitions. Soon after, another 4,000 square feet was added to the facility.

As AVID continued to grow, in order to maintain its standards of urgency, responsiveness and competency, AVID re-structured its organization horizontally into highly efficient project teams each led by a senior technical manager, to ensure a minimal degree of separation between customer/program management and technical resources.

During the tech crash following 9/11, AVID had the only fiscal loss in its history. AVID's ownership re-invested cash to keep its veteran team together. When the 2003 recovery came, AVID was strong and primed for its best growth years ever.  To manage this growth and maintain quality standards, in 2004 AVID began a massive investment in a customized IT software solution that provides comprehensive job cost, and performance tracking and control. All time, expense and material is logged to tasks and opportunities in real time; every work flow process is automated and on-line, including purchasing, receiving, approvals, AP, billing, AR, payroll, vacation requests and approvals; all documentation including agreements, contracts, purchase orders, email, correspondence, etc. is paperless and relationally linked to customers and opportunities.

This system enables AVID to maintain acute project status, visibility, accountability, efficiency, and reporting- the end result being superior productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.

The recession of 2009 caused AVID to take preventative steps to closely manage spending. Fortunately, business and finances remain strong through this recession, due to a continued loyal customer base and good management controls, as well as many new customers resulting from more active marketing efforts.
